Ode to the Days of Transition

Approaching the apex of transition,

transition,

Time speeds out of control,
out of control, out of...

Hurling ones being into a vortex of past
and future energies,

Colliding, fighting, for dominance!

At once believing yourself secure,
You are now catapulted into the spiral,
into the spiral, into,

Torn! Wrenched! Dismantled!

Left naked, unarmed...

Here, where there is no time,
You float, nowhere, with no one,
Marveling at the peace, at the space,
You are suspended in nothingness.

Past...patterns...melt away...

Eyes peer into a new reality,
Exiting the days, the days of transition,

Arriving, arriving,
Arriving at the next phase,
At the next phase of being.

The Mirror

1.
Who is, What is,
so sacred, so holy, beyond mention,
scriptures, religions, contradictions,
years of study, simple prayers,
sincere yearning, hear my plea.
Who is, What is God?
We are seeking to know,
fasting to know,
thirsting to know
Seeking to, fasting to, thirsting
to know, to know.
2.
Sleep, deep sleep.
Slip into the world within.
Awake, awake, awake
within your dreams, our dreams,
here within my dreams,
Awake within your dreams,
into the world within,
into this hidden world.
3.
Oh say! Say what?
Did you see? See what?
There are two angels standing here,
clothed in white, from head to toe.
Oh yes, we can see them now.
Their clothes of white
they ripple down.
Their clothes of white,
they flow, from head to toe,
from head to toe.
Angels stand, the two,
one on either side of you.
Oh yes, I see,
here is one, there is one,
one on either side of me.

~You have come to learn for yourself, to know.
~Yes.
~Take our hands, together we will go.
Glancing up, to see,
there in front, of me,
two posts and a lintel,
nothing more.
The posts and lintel form a door.

4.
Ste
pping through, stepping through,
stepping through, stepping through,
the door of your mind,
Turn, turn, turn
to the left,
to face, face, face
Angels drop your hands
instruct you,
~ Lift your veil.
A shock to me,
a shock to you,
had no idea,
do not fear,
as you face, face, face,
the mirror, mirror, mirror,
mirror, mirror, mirror,
of your soul, my soul, our soul.
5.
A moment's lesson seeps through eons of time.
A surge of silent contemplation,
of reverence for seeing God
in you, in me, in all...in all that is.

The Shores of Life

Allah, Jehovah,

Brahma, Buddha,

Tao, Aum, El Shaddai,

Shonkwaia'tison,

The Good, Your God,

My God, Our God,

Pure Love, Pure Peace,

Unknown and Known,

Unconditional Love, Sweet Peace.

The winds of time play havoc with our souls

as they batter us against the shores of life.

And I, I seek, if only for a moment...

a brief respite in Thy Divine Light.

Allah, Jehovah,

Brahma, Buddha,

Tao, Aum, El Shaddai,

Shonkwaia'tison.

Acts of aggression,

suppression, confiscation

have forced us to flee

from our homes

against our will

we flee for the safety of self and family.

Perilous journeys of suff’ring

from power and greed,

fleeing from power and greed.

Sixty-five million people displaced

Fourty-four million internally displaced!

Twenty-one million refugees!

Thirty-four thousand flee daily!

A humanitarian crisis of epic proportions!

Calls for conflict resolution!

Calls for safe and open negotiations!

Reach out, rethink, renew,

replace, retool, divest...

from products and investors in products

that harm and pollute,

destroy our lands, our water,

displacing our people.

Stand strong, be strong,

Be one, inform,

Share in the knowledge of ethical industry.

Invest in local, sustainable community.

With respect and support

as we each do our part,

Let the conflicts cease

and humanity live in peace.

Allah, Jehovah, Brahma, Buddha,

Tao, Aum, El Shaddai, Shonkwaia'tison,

The Good, Your God, My God, Our God,

Pure Love, Pure Peace.

Light of peace, light of hope, light of love.

Winter on the Levant

7th Century BCE

Ashera, goddess tree of love and life,
Lay your head down,
Rest with your children at your side,
For the winter soon arrives.
She'ol, goddess womb of the underworld,
Arise to catch our falling leaves,
To heal our bruised and empty souls.
For the winter has arrived.
Our buried pain we share around,
And sit all quiet by the fireside,
Warming hearts with winter's love.
Tender notes prepare to rise,
As we traverse the height of winter's night.
Gone our winter passes by,
Now in peace we live together side by side.
Ashera, goddess mother of the seventy gods,

Lift your limbs high,
Let your children touch the sky,
For our joy is to live in peace together,

Side by side.

All the Walls

Sun rises.
Shadows blanket Bethlehem.
Glistening rays awaken Jerusalem

Ancient King Josiah walks pensively the gardens of his palace.
Gazing over the valley below, Josiah ponders the plight of his people.
Jedidah, Josiah’s mother, calls: Josiah, my son, listen:

Women drummers
Drum
Words of wonder
Words of warning

Josiah declares: To our north Assyria strangles us with her relentless occupation
To our south Egypt’s pharaoh readies his armies to reclaim our lands as theirs

In the name of our One God
I will assemble a righteous army
Break down the altars of the lesser Gods
Kill the pagan priests and priestesses
Defend our lands

Walls of War
Walls of Terror
Walls of Mistrust

1945 Charter of the United Nations
...Words Shattered by Walls
All nations in conflict
Shall first of all seek to negotiate
...Hopes Shattered by Walls
All nations in conflict

Shall refrain from the threat or use of force...
...Possibilities...Shattered...By Walls

A child...in pain...cries
A woman...is raped
A man...is tortured
Families, friends – murdered

Children question:
Why are these people shooting at us?

Mothers wail.

...A woman sings: I am holding you...
Fathers disappear

...A man sings: Holding you, ever so gently...
All cry out to their God – deliver us!
...Together, we are holding you, ever so tenderly...

Women drum

Josiah proclaims:

We have slaughtered all the priests and priestesses.

Jedidah implores:
Josiah,

What have become of the women drummers?

Military drummers
March to war
A general enters
A soldier surveys the battlefield
We are all warriors

Defending those whom and that which we hold dear

Our journey – a rite of passage
Accomplished
Consummated
Warriors return home.

All rise!

Celebrate our soldiers with songs of praise!

Salute our Troops
Stand proud
For the brave men and women
Who give their lives for us all
Enduring hardships unknown
Of sand, of heat, of grit
Of enemy bombs and guns
And deceased comrades
Honor our men and women
Our outstanding fine troops

As in a dream, our minds search for sanity amidst insanity...

Kill or be killed!

Hidden fears, shame, humiliation surface,
Murder!.....or be murdered!
Atrocities accost the soul.
Souls separate, bodies become numb.
The soul cries to be reclaimed!

ALL THE WALLS ARE ONLY MISTAKES!
Josiah pleads with us to drop our swords.
We relinquish our weapons.
Walls collapse.

Jedidah pleads with us to listen to the voices of all people.

We engage in conflict resolution.
Walls collapse.

Hulda, ancient prophetess,
Whispers,
Love yourself,

Your God and your neighbors Gods.
Walls utterly collapse.

All seek forgiveness and forgive,
All mourn, all grieve.
Walls utterly collapse.

A myriad of possibilities
For peace and prosperity
Flood our minds
Soul and body unite
Ancient and contemporary
Religions, races, ethnicity...
...intermingle...
Support one another,
Provide for one another,

...live, learn, work as one people of many peoples...

...knowing...

Peace is the only hope.
